Timeless Touches™ Express Yourself Colour-ready Fibres are an exciting new concept in embellishment fibres, allowing you to completely customize your project! At first glance, they appear to simply be white or natural coloured fibres while in fact they are “ready to dye”. While many other “white” fibres have been either dyed or coated, Express Yourself Colour-ready Fibres are specially prepared to take and hold dye.

Traditionally, these fibres are dyed with fibre reactive dyes, but we have found several much simpler ways to colour small amounts of fibre. There’s no mixing, measuring, or clean up; you can use items you already have in your craft supply stash!

Tips:
Always work on a piece of waxed paper or plastic wrap to protect your work surface from the ink.

Using permanent pigment pens, apply colour to the fibre by simply colouring. We find that a brush pen is the easiest tip to use, but you can use any kind you have on hand.

Use pigment ink that comes in a small pad, stamping the fibre lightly until the desired colour intensity is achieved. You can try our Versacolour ink pads as they’re small, making it easy to control the placement of the ink.

Whichever form of ink you use, cover all sides of the fibre with the ink. Or, for a textured or pastel look, stamp or colour lightly, allowing the original shade of the fibre to show through.

Let the fibre sit for about an hour, then wipe gently with a paper towel to check for excess ink. If you’ve used a light touch with the ink, you may not need to wait this long for it to dry. If you have saturated the fibre thoroughly, allow it to dry for another hour. You may need to let it set overnight, depending on the amount of ink used and the humidity in your area. Using a heat tool may help speed up the drying process.

Feel free to experiment with other methods of “dying” the fibre, but remember to always check it with a paper towel before adhering it to your project.
