The first page is a major challenge to some people
and to others it comes quite easily. Just remember
that each page doesn’t have to be perfect and
elaborate. Keep your pages simple.
-
Select your photos making sure that they are of
a single event eg. birthday, family event or a
holiday. Two to four photos for a single
page and four to six photos for a double page.
-
Pick
out the best photos. Get rid of the blurry
photos and photos that aren't well composed. Try
to select one photo to be the focal point of the
layout.
-
Select acid and lignin free paper to compliment
your photos. Experiment with different patterns
and colours. You could use themed colours, such
as red and white for Valentine's in day.
Alternatively you can select papers or cardstock
that enhance the colours your photos.
-
Crop your photos to take out any unwanted backgrounds and
feature the subject of the photo. You don’t have
to crop every photo. You can't un-crop a photo
so make sure you are able to reprint the image
if you make an error.
-
Matt
your photos – make a showcase of your main photo
by making the matting different to the other
photos. You don’t have to matt all your photos.
-
Consider adding embellishments to your
page by stickers, headings, die-cuts, stamps or
memorabilia. Ensure that the embellishments do not
overshadow your photos
-
Place the photos and embellishments on
the page. Ensure that the pages are balanced
-
Add your journaling – you need to tell
the story of the page/s. When journaling write the
who, when, where, why and what.
-
Attach all your elements to the page
-
Congratulations you have just finished
your first page.
